Sounding - The Sill: Design Your Day
Northumberland National Park Authority (NNPA) invites interested parties to tender for a contract to deliver Sounding - The Sill: Interpreting A Living Landscape Project. The outcome of this contract will inform the development of a potential new discovery centre within Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site, currently known as 'The Sill - A Centre for Wild Landscapes'.
Northumberland National Park Authority, through this project, seeks to understand how local young people (aged 11 – 18) perceive and use the project area (where Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site and Northumberland National Park overlap). In particular:
- the existing use of the project area by local youth groups (e.g. Haltwhistle Film Project, Cubs, school clubs, etc) & young people within those groups;
- the opportunities that potentially exist for the National Park and the Authority to become involved in the future activities of those groups;
- the methodologies those groups would welcome and find most effective in meeting their needs;
- provide support for the groups in initiating their relationships with the appropriate NNPA staff;
- the group members’ use of popular media such as social networking sites & activity pages (e.g. geocaching) to when instigating & planning activities;
- how the Authority, beyond the lifetime of this project, could best maintains a relationship with young people in the development of The Sill – A Centre for Wild Landscapes
The contractor is expected to:
- Produce a researched statement of their intended approach using referenced best practice for the interview
- Have considerable experience of working with this age group and demonstrate both success in engaging and encouraging young people (ages 11 – 18) to access and enjoy the great outdoors
- Have considerable experience of effectively working with young people (ages 11 – 18) to design and develop activities and appropriate popular media that successfully communicates with and engages with target audience
- Be enthusiastic, creative, inclusive and effective in motivating young people (11 -18)
- Have proven experience of objective evaluation of projects and report writing
- Produce a researched statement of their intended approach using referenced best practice for the interview
Completed tenders should be delivered by hand, special delivery or recorded delivery no later than 12 noon, 19 February 2010 to Northumberland National Park Authority.
