WATBus Community Transport pilot new cycling service
Local charity WATBus Community Transport are to benefit from funding to provide cycling in Northumberland, and will road test the service in a pilot launch in which locals can win free cycling trips around Northumberland's scenic coastal routes.
Manager Lynn Mcintosh explained, ''The funding will allow us to provide 3 free trips into Northumberland from Blyth, Ashington and Newbiggen areas for 36 customers who want to cycle the beautiful coastline. Transport will be provided free of charge so all names will go into a hat and winning groups drawn from each area. WATBus will provide the minibus and Sustrans are providing the trailer with cycles supplied if required.''
Ranger Colin Hall said, ''We have selected an easy off road route and I will be there to make sure no one gets lost. Cycling is great fun and we combine exercise, fresh air and the Northumberland countryside for a fantastic day out.''
Anyone interested in winning a trip should email contact details, town to pick up from and number of cyclists in your party to cycling.watbus@yahoo.co.uk
