Queen recognises social enterprise in Speech
The social enterprise sector hopes grew after the Queen's Speech inaugurating the new coalition government recognised social enterprise as key in its plans to "build a strong and fair society".
Addressing plans for public services, the Queen stated, "The role of social enterprises, charities and co-operatives in our public services will be enhanced".
However, concerns are growing regarding new Chancellor George Osborne's propsed spending cuts, including £79 million worth of cuts for the Cabinet Office.
The new government also deemed the Future Jobs Fund, an employment programme focusing on young people, as "ineffective" in a Treasury press release and will end the programme in March next year, saving £320 million.
