Procurement Tips on Editing Your Tender
FREE PROCUREMENT TIPS
This month’s Tips will help you to Edit Your Tender
In addition to the overall ‘look’ of your proposal, it is well worth spending some time on the formatting. There is more detail coming soon regarding the use of language, however the following general tips on editing your tender are worth considering:
- Focus on key messages – using simple techniques to lend emphasis to key messages can help. The golden rule is that people will only remember a few key messages so use the highlighting technique very cautiously
- Keep sentences and paragraphs short, punchy and business-like
- Use bullet points and headings to break up text
- Ensure that typeface is consistent and readable
- Ensure that layout and type size are consistent and large enough to be easily readable
- Check that formatting is consistent – be careful when cutting and pasting copy to make sure the format stays the same
- Ensure that the document includes the cover sheet with project title, date, and name of the organisation submitting the tender
- Include indexes, where appropriate
- Number paragraphs so material can be easily located
- Consider getting the document bound at a print shop
