Pledge your support for the Social Enterprise Bill
A new Bill aimed at making it easier for social enterprises to secure public sector contracts to deliver front-line services will be debated in parliament for the first time on Friday 19 November.
In July this year, Chris White MP (Conservative Member for Warwick and Leamington) tabled a Private Members’ Bill named ‘Public Services (Social Enterprise and Social Value)’. The Social Enterprise Coalition (SEC) is advising Chris White’s team as to the content of the Bill and is encouraging the social enterprise sector to get involved and pledge their support for the Bill.
The SEC website provides information on a number of ways in which social enterprises can get involved including lobbying to local MPs, tips on working with local media and a template press release.
In order for the Social Enterprise Bill to be passed, 100 MP’s must vote in favour of it.
