Impetus Trust rewarding social enterprises and charities
The Impetus Trust, a venture philanthropy organisation that provides social enterprises and charities with funding and management support, handed out £1.2 million in grants over the past year, with Liverpool-based social enterprise the FRC Group and Blue Sky Development and Regneration, who work to break the cycle of re-offending in recently released prisoners amongst those to benefit from the Trust.
The Impetus Trust's income is made up of donations from individual philanphropists, businesses and foundations which is used to fund a small number of social enterprises and charities whose work centres around social and economic deprivation.
Impetus looks to fund three or four new social enterprises or charities a year, adding to its existing 'portfolio of funded social enterprises and charities', with typical funding worth between £300,000 and £500,000 spread over a period of four to six years.
The Trust pays its funding installments every quarter and also provides high levels of backing and continuing grant support provided that the social enterprise or charity in question meet the strict targets set out in their application to Impetus funding.
