Enter the Environment Awards 2009
As part of its Go Green campaign, the Chronicle, in partnership with Scottish and Southern Energy, are looking to reward both individuals and groups whose actions have a positive effect on the environment in the North East. This will be the third year of the Environment Awards and the Chronicle are asking for nominations from people, groups, schools and businesses who would like to have their efforts recognised and rewarded. There are five award categories available to enter:
- Environmental Individual
- Sustainable School
- Environmental Business or Project
- Green Community Group
- Climate Change Award
Each winner will receive a trophy recognising their achievements presented by BBC weather presenter Trai Anfield in an awards ceremony to be held at the Centre for Life in February 2010. Scottish and Southern Energy will also select an overall winner from every entry shortlisted in each award category who will recieve the Overall Environmental Award.
Social enterprises have already received recognition for their efforts in the Environment Awards. Last year, North East Social Enterprise Partnership member Recyke Y'Bike, a social enterprise that refurbishes old bicycles, was awarded the Environmental Business and Project award. If the aims and services of your social enterprise are environmentally beneficial why not enter the awards?
