Community Ventures Ltd Procurement Training and Mentoring Programme

The North East Social Enterprise Partnership is pleased to announce that Community Ventures Ltd (CVL) was successful in its bid to deliver a Procurement Training and Mentoring Programme as part of the Big Lottery funded Procurement and Commissioning Project (NE2).
CVL will deliver a programme of intensive workshops and one-to-one organisational mentoring to third sector organisations (social enterprises and voluntary and community organisations) in each sub-region of the North East. The main aims of the programme are to enable third sector organisations to achieve:
- Increased involvement in public sector procurement activity
- A clearer understanding of what procurement officers are looking for in tender appraisal
- Reduced dependency on grant funding
- Increased (full) cost recovery
- Cultural change within organisations to embed a focus on contracting
- Minimised risk to the organisation from contracts
- Increased contract numbers and/or volumes
The workshop series will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to Procurement – understanding the procurement process
- Finding Opportunities – sources of tenders
- How to get through the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) stage
- Implications of Staff Transfers
- Tenders and Evaluations
- Successful Bidding – how to write a winning tender
- Understanding Consortia – getting involved in the supply chain
- Quality Assurance Matters – understanding QA in your organisation
- Understanding Contract Management
The one-to-one mentoring, available to North East based third sector organisations including those participating in the workshops, which will be tailored specifically to the needs of the organisation though initial mentoring may include:
- Support preparing/revising policy documents required by commissioners (e.g. Health and Safety policies)
- Support preparing, completing and submitting invitations to tender or pre-qualification questionnaires
- Support at the contract interview stage
