Community groups in TV battle to win cash awards
The Big Lottery Fund and ITV join together for the fifth year running to host the People's Millions contest, in which community groups battle it out to win a share of a cash prize to fund their projects. This year, six community groups from across the North east will compete for one of four awards of up to £50,000. From November 23rd to November 25th, each group will appear in a two-way head to head battle on ITV Tyne Tees news, and the public will vote to decide who is awarded the money.
Monday will see the North of Tyne Search and Rescue Team present its 'Mobile Incident Command Centre' project against Blyth Star Enterprises 'Blyth Star Gardening Services'. Next South Shields based group Arts 4 Wellbeing will compete with its 'Outreach for Wellbeing' project against Engage TV CIC's 'Life Limiting Illness Film and Web Project'. Finally, the Noah's Garden scheme of Thornaby will battle it out on Thursday against the Two Metre Project, presented by The Dales Centre, based in Bedale, North Yorkshire .
The voting lines will be open from 9:00am until midnight on the days the projects appear on Tyne Tees news. To find out more about the contest and the groups involved please visit the People's Millions Tyne Tees web page.
