2009 Social Enterprise Awards
Social Firm Brighter Futures has been named Social Enterprise of the Year. Other Social Firm winners were Bikeworks (Best New Social Enterprise), Pack-IT (Best Small Social Enterprise) and the Holbrook Centre for Autism (Best Social Enterprise in a School).
The government conservatively estimates that there are at least 62,000 social enterprises in the UK, of which only about 80 are fully-fledged Social Firms. It is truly amazing that on this occasion - as in many previous competitions - Social Firms have achieved such pre-eminence.
But it raises again the question of why there are so few Social Firms in the North East - please let me know your thoughts on this at http://www.geofcox.info/index.php?q=node/107.
